Make sure to keep a running list of all your favorite parts of GenCon... Otherwise it all becomes a blur!

I'm actually covering the event for a website I'm writing for now. Plus I'm the other half of the duo that actually walks around with a notebook taking notes. I think it's the weird teachery/blogger side of me that has a habit of wanting to keep notes.

We did also get tickets for the game library for some downtime gaming, browsing, etc.

We'll definitely look to see what else is going on. I'm kind of excited we're there on Wednesday before the crowds so we have time to get our bearings before things kick into high gear. We've done the film festival circuit before, so we're kind of attacking it like we did our film festivals, but with more downtime instead of back-to-back events.

I swore off Sugar-Free Red Bull a year ago. . . but I think this might be the one week of the year I could relapse a little bit. haha!

One restaurant/brewpub is called the Ram. They change their menus and have big Magic/game banners hung. If you're trying to get in during prime lunch /supper hours though - it is packed. I sort of gave up on it because of the crowds, but if you can hit it off times it might be worth it. I think there is some Wednesday night stuff that happens there.

Ah yes, thanks Seripmav! The Ram was the one I was thinking of. A couple years back I remember that I met up there with GT and BHL, but couldn't remember the name for the life of me. ;)

Scotty's Brew House is another nice place. It's a few blocks away but totally worth it. Elric, that's where we went one year and all the Star Wars costumed people were there. Remember the little kid at the table next to us who was just in awe of the Stormtroopers? That was pretty cool.

Hah yes, I do remember that. I think that was the place where they gave out free custom dice to anyone who ordered from their special GenCon themed menu, right? Good times, we will have to repeat that sometime soon. Are you going this year BHL?

I'm not going this year, no. If I can't get a hotel attached to the convention center I don't go. I guess I'm an elitist or something. Or else I believe in voting with my wallet. :)

In any case, I hope to be back next year.

Weird Al did an AMA on Reddit the other day and someone asked him if he ever went to conventions. He said he went to Comic Con once but was stopped every two feet by fans asking for autographs. Then he said, and I don't know if this is true, that if he went again he would dress up as a storm trooper like other celebrities do when they want to attend a con.

So some of those costumed people might just be celebrities in disguise.

Just throwing this out there... if anyone at GenCon gets near the AEG booth and can snag a copy of the premium edition of Deadland:Reloaded, (It comes in a wooden box), just give me a call and I'll give you my credit card number...

It's my precious! I WANTS it!

Thanks!!

It's limited, and very very likely that they will sell out very very swiftly. So I won't be crying a river if you can't get ahold of one, but I would have been foolish not to ask.

Deadlands was easily my favorite CCG. Heck, it's still my favorite RPG setting, CCG, theme, genre, etc. if it's Deadlands, odds are good that I will love it, and the CCG coming back as an LCG format really has excited!

I can check as well. I'll be getting to Indy on Wednesday by 9am to help CMON (Cool Mini or Not) set up their booth in the exhibit hall. If I happen to catch the AEG guys before the "masses" hit the floor - I'll see if they have one. Shoot me a PM with your cell number if that interests you... ;)

Probably a better idea, I won't be on the hall floor until Saturday.

If you're going and you want to hook up with us for dinner or lunch or a stroll or something, PM for our cell and we can try to meet up. We've got our schedule ready, too. We'll be arriving Tuesday night so I can go to the educators seminars on Wednesday and Ray is going to get a lay of the land and all that. So if you're in on Wednesday, give us a shout.

Attention anyone headed to Gen Con (or who is already there),

Buy Elric a drink for me if you see him, and I'll pay you back when you get home. He managed to snag me the Doomtown:Reloaded Premium set I was drooling over! What a guy!

Thanks to the rest of you who offered to keep an eye out for one, and let me know if you want to play some Doomtown in a few days.... or whenever, I still have a few thousand cards from the original game to hold me over for now...

One day left to GenCon...over 20 games stacked up in hotel room >.>

I was less concerned for new releases than good deals, but I did snag Doomtown:Reloaded as well as a couple other new releases.

Exhausting, but it's been fun. Haven't run into any of the polyhedral folks though.
