So far I'm really enjoying it. At first it just seems like a CIV 5 clone (because it basically is), and it's a little hard to get a feel for the personality of it. But the changes that have been made make it an intriguingly different beast than CIV 5. You aren't so much advancing your civilization like in the original as you are developing your colonies. I don't think there is a race to get "gunpowder" or "refrigeration" because all the techs can be used to build your civ in a way that you desire. For example, In my game I haven't bothered to research the tech to discover oil because I'm too busy researching genetics. And the cool thing is that's just fine.

I don't have many hours into it so I can't comment on the "end game" but I like how the natural aliens think, how the satellite layer works, and the tech web is neat if complex. The quests are also a nice twist. So far the AI has been very calm but maybe that's because I'm playing on an easy level or the game itself has been tuned to not be so militaristic I'm not sure. It might be because this game has lots of different paths to take so it doesn't want to pigeon hole you in. And it definitely has DLC written all over it.

Don't worry. The next World of Warcraft expansion comes out in 3 weeks and all of this will be forgotten. lol (which btw looks really cool with building your own garrisons and having your own followers!)

But I haven't even played this enough to figure out the victory conditions yet so I'm in your time-limited boat. And since I started the thread I figured I had follow through with something.

I've forced myself to hold off on the AAA games until they're down in price. They're just too expensive these days, and I have plenty of games to play as it is.

That said, does it have drones? When you exit the game, does it plaintively beseech you, "Don't leave. The drones love you; they look up to you."
I don't make everything dirty. I just show you the dirtiness you've been in denial about.

They also just released a nice update for it. There's nothing added but they rebalanced a pile of things which should improve the overall feel.

I saw some DLC in the steam store also...

Slightly off topic, all the CIV 5 DLC stuff is also on sale right now if you need to pick up any of the map packs or anything. Double check before you buy, because they have a bundle with EVERYTHING that is cheaper than buying 2-3 small DLC packs. It ended up cheaper for me to re-buy the whole works as a package, instead of just buying the last two expansion packs.

Expac coming this fall that looks cool. http://venturebeat.com/2015/05/18/relea ... -the-seas/

It sounds like some interesting things are going to be added, still, some of this (I'm looking at you diplomacy improvements) should have been in the base game so the price tag seems a little steep.
