Oh my. I guess I can write off February through June 2013, at a minimum.

Every Sim has an agenda / wants / needs? Wow. I like that you don't have to mess with water pipes and some of that micromanaging.

Looks awesome. Thanks for the link!

Holy Shit!

That might even overtake Diablo 3 as the reason I most wish I had free time on the computer...

The only problem, and this seems to be the way most games are going, is that you need to be connected to play.

That would suck. This seems like a REALLY fine way to spend a weekend at the in-laws...who have no internet...

Yeah. Now it takes hackers two weeks to hack games instead of 2 days.

Actually though, your phone can create a local hotspot.

Which would work well...if they had any sort of actual cell phone coverage out there in the sticks. I'm lucky if I can check my email once a day on the slow ass "1x" cellular data rate that shows up once in a while.

In some of the other videos you can actually watch things like the factories using up their raw materials as they produce goods, wind blowing pollution around, and a godzilla rampaging down mainstreet.

I spent a while looking at those last night as well.
I even have the Mrs. wanting it now, and her most expansive amount of computer gaming is farmville.

The multiplayer aspects are really intriguing as well. Being able to build an entire region with friends, where each city can focus on certain things, but can work together as a a whole by sharing infrastructure and resources with each other... WOW.

FYI, live streaming gameplay today at 12:00
Join us on October 9, 2012 at 10am PST for the first ever Maxis Live Broadcast where you'll hear straight from both the SimCity and The Sims 3 teams. The Maxis Live Broadcast will be the exclusive destination for the World Premiere of Live SimCity gameplay!

In addition to showing off live gameplay for the first time, we’ll also be conducting a Q&A session during the broadcast where we’ll be answering questions directly from fans like you. Don’t miss this opportunity to not only see the game, but also the chance to speak directly with the Maxis team.

Oh man. I wish I had seen this sooner. I hope they make these available after the fact.

Yeah, the building regions with friends thing is really cool. This is going to be awesome.

I let it go in the background for a while. Lots of Sims stuff....

If you go to the link http://www.origin.com/maxis-live you can see the replay.

Simcity stuff goes from 35:45 t0 106:00. Which includes a replay of the video Seripmav linked yesterday.

Seripmav...this video explains some more about how neighboring cities work, and how you can use them.

Simcity was just released on Tuesday, however you may want to hold off a couple weeks before making the purchase. The servers are currently very unstable. I was able to play for a hour or so on Tuesday morning before I was disconnected. Since then I've tried to play about 5 or 6 random times yesterday and today and I haven't been able to connect to their servers. Hopefully it won't take them too long to figure out their problems.

Yeah I saw that too. This is one time that my tradition of buying games a few weeks late is really going to pay off.

I am still boycotting until they make it playable offline in SOME form. I love the online multiplayer part, but if I can't play at my inlaws, or on a flight, it's useless to me, as that's when I play games like SimCity....when I don't have the ability to play online multiplayer games...
