New Users

Until I can figure out another way to deal with the spam bots, all new users will need to be activated by an admin, before they are able to post. As soon as they sign up, I receive an email. After checking them out, I can activate them with a click of a button.

I do check the forum at least a couple times a day, so account activation should not take longer than 24 hours.

Hopefully this will only be a temporary setting for the board.

Thanks

As Spongebob says "Up with Air, down with Bubbles!"

Whatever you gotta do to clean up the riff raff...

I have now added a VIP code requirement to the registration page. A new user must now find the VIP code in the announcement forum and enter it to complete the registration.

Since 'most' of the spambots are automated, this should keep them away. If we still have issues with them, I will just go back to Administration Activation.

did you try pushing the submit button at the end of the registration page? I don't see anything about "mail"...

Submit was done and an email sent saying that because of age and legal blah, blah, blah, a signature is required and to be sent in, but there were no address to send it to. The area was blank. I think the admin is screwin with me just like the rest of you. The apple doesn't fall far from the post.

Yeah, don't worry about any of that stuff. There is a law somewhere or something that the over/under 13 thing needs to be displayed. I didn't think we'd ever have anyone that young, so I never did anything with it.

What is the username you signed up with? I'll see if I can just activate it. Otherwise, just go through the registration again and say that you are over 13. I won't tell anyone.

I found her and activated her account. She should now be able to post with the username and password that she signed up with.

Thanks, Larry. I was just thinking up some words that rhyme with Laratin to put into some poem to give you crap, but I have suddenly been overcome by some nice streak. Don't worry, I'll get over it soon.
