Have you seen the OLED's?! I was in Best Buy the other day and just stood mesmerized.

To be honest, I really haven't seen the high-end O-LED's yet. I know that is the future technology and the reason that Plasmas are the dinosaur. Normal LEDs that most people own don't compare to the inky blackness of the plasma IMO.

I also was in Best Buy deer in headlights at the LED TVs there. WOW better then the tube.
DE what type of antenna 100mile, 60mile or 40mile? Does an amplifier help on range?
What do people have for internet service out there? I will probably have to up that too.

Cut the cord last night. =D>

At the same time I made them increase my internet speed to the new standard 60mbps (Charter). Even though it's the same price I was already paying, I was previously at a slower 15 because that's what it was when I signed up. :x They won't just give it to you, you have to ask for it or be a new customer. I never thought I would have noticed much difference but holy cow is my internet fast now; pages load instantly. The nice thing about Charter is you can jump around from plan to plan without much hassle.

I have Netflix and signed up for HuluPlus. Last night we were watching a show on residual cable time (about an hour or more after I had called to cancel) and they got around to turning it off, so the station went dead. Switched over to HuluPlus and finished watching it. Nice

I'll probably pick up a Leaf antenna so I can have broadcast on one of the TV's.

darth:

I think GB is about 50-60 miles away.

Here is a good resource for more info:
http://www.antennaweb.org/Info/Resources.aspx

The amplifier helps retain signal strength in the cable run. If you are not getting the signal at all, the amplifier doesn't help.

Also both great resources. I do off-air studies for a living with very expensive software, and I still use both of these sites for quick off-air research.

Here is a TV Fool radar map, with the center point being just south west of 9th Ave & Oakwood Rd. :-"

I have a Roku 3 and a Wii that both have it, hooked up to the main tvs. And a playstation 4, and a couple of iPads.

Last night I purchased a Terk indoor TV antenna from Best Buy (79.99). It was sort of a lark because we have aluminum siding so I didn't expect much. I unpackaged it very carefully anticipating to return it. I also attached it to the TV in the basement because, you know, might as well set it up for failure right away. It turned out to work great. The packer game came in crystal clear. So... pretty darn neat. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/terk-omnidi ... Id=1439997

Now, you're makeing me want to try it. ABC comes in great, but the other channels I struggle with at times on bad weather days. I'd be curious to know if I could replace my outdoor antenna with this. I might be tempted to pick one up someday.

Ser, The trick is picking up channel 11- Fox. Have you tried that one?

DE, I should come over with my off-air test gear and we can see if we can tweak it in.

No. Use MY off-air test gear. Oh wait, it's the same stuff Heath uses... and it's in the van he is already driving.

Nevermind, let him do it.

You are right we do not get Fox 11. I realize it's not the best solution, but still not terrible. I get 10 stations half of which I will never watch. I'll have to try it on the upstairs TV...

Sounds like the same as cable... 300 channels, 295 of which I'd never watch.

So the only solution to get Fox 11 is a big roof antenna?

It doesn't have to be really big. But yeah.

I am able to get channel 11 without a problem. I just have the $50 leaf hanging on my living room wall. I can't be that much closer, I wouldn't think.

Your relatively in the open, he has a ton of trees around. Plus, I imagine you want the signal to all sets, right Ser?

No just one at a time would be fine. I ran my antenna upstairs and set by a north facing window. This gave us about 3 more channels but not 11.

One at a time? What does that mean? You intend to move it when you want to watch something? For $60 and some time we can get you set up without all the dinking around.
