Ha! Oddly enough, the Fox Valley Kubb Championship game was just this past Saturday, 8/27!

Thanks for the links Oberon. Pick your favorite rules sheet. I like this one BEST. Especially the Viking ship carrying case.

World Championship Rules from the annual World Championships in Gotland, Sweden.

U.S. National Kubb Championship Rules for the annual U.S. Championship in Eau Claire, WI. Created by Des Moines Kubb Club.

There are a variety of sets of rules that people can play. Some of these rules make the game shorter and some make the game longer. The three major game options are as follows:

1) if/when a kubb is out of play,
2) when a team can move up to throw throwing pins, &
3) stacking.

If/when kubbs are out of play:
1) a kubb is never out of play. (World Championship)
2) a kubb is out of play after the first hit in the field. The kubb is originally hit as it sits on the baseline, then again after that team has tossed it in the field.

When to move ahead to the advance line:
1) a team can move up to the closest field kubb to the king if any field kubbs are left standing in their half and then take aim at field kubbs in the other half and then baseline kubbs. (World Championship)
2) a team can only move up to the closest field kubb to the king when there are no field kubbs standing in the other half.

Stacking kubbs:
1) field kubbs are placed up where they rest, even if they have touched. (World Championship)
2) if field kubbs hit, they are placed next to each other so that they are touching.
3) if field kubbs hit, they are stacked vertically.

Great day, Harb:) Thanks for being such a gracious host. Life side Elk Fest for as dorky as it looks was awesome. I'd stake down the start pieces. I don't know how many splits I have in me. I'm sure I took a few years off my groin. I am soooo sore today. I can play a whole day of paintball and not be sore the next day. What gives?

The kids had a great time as usual. You are all great people. I say that even when Eric wasn't present:(

Sounds like a great time. I just heard about Kubb and made a set. Good times.

Maybe next year!

Anyone is welcome. You just have to have a good time, and bringing a kid to pass is a plus, but not necessary.

I also have a set of old time-y killing style Jarts.

I am guessing the hat belongs to a Oberon-ling
The washers belong to a Super Hawk
The camera and Jarts to Yid.

Hey guys, imagine the fun if anyone showed up before noon!

Is it an insult or a compliment? Inquiring minds want to know.

It sounds like you all had a blast. I liked seeing the video of it so thanks for posting it Looper. I will be sure to check out any picture links too, so I can live vicariously.

Cheers!

I have a full game of Life Size Elk Fest and the clothing relay to post yet. Stay tuned!

I might even have them loaded up before noon!

For those of you on Facebook, the event page has been updated with photos.
For those of you not, um... Skittlebrau is working on it. (Plus he should add a photo of the trophy, as I don't think we got a good shot of that)

Yes, please put them where my swimsuit used to be.

Yeah, they could have help setup all the stuff with us (says the guy with the hour and a half car ride). :( I know, boo hoo. :)

The whole point of showing up late is so that everything is already set up! Imagine my disappointment to drive in and see the final adjustments being made to the slide and bouncy houses.

Besides, I thought set up was going to commence at 8:30? :-"

If I remember the first year, the same thing happened. Maybe the start time should be moved back to 11 or something. Not a big deal but for us long trippers it be better on a Saturday so we can stay later and get the most from the drive.

I'll take one. That homemade set you loaned me worked... But the family likes it enough to want a better quality one.

Posted from my phone, since the Poly-U admins hooked me up with Tapatalk.

Oberdude, seems you are too late, but I do have a home made one that is being returned that I can get to you.
