I was wondering if doing a few group activities would be fun. Can anyone think of some actual multi-player games that can be played? (they should be more gamer-y) I was thinking of having a 'river crossing' competition- where you have two 'stones' that you need to stay on as you cross a 'river'. Sort of a relay race.

Something a kin to these wacky tv shows would be cool - like a multi-event team obstacle course. One event could be trying to find objects at the bottom of the pool with their eyes closed. Then the river cross thing. Maybe trying to hit a target with the lawn golf things. I could bring the ball pit balls for the councy house and we could oil up the wimins and have them wrastle in there while we are at it - kunk fu chick would need some sort of handicap thou.

We ordered a sheet cake for the event. I can bring the lawn Jarts, but we will have to keep them away from the pool.

Remember, the Harbinger clan is actually here, in case you don't want to get here when "no one" else is.

Harb:

Thanks so much for a great event as always. It seems each year it gets better and better. My kids are still crying when it was time to leave so I know it was a great time for them.

Congrats to Skittlebrau in winning the ultimate Familypalooza award. My eldest son will be gunning for you next year.

Best Familypalooza ever. We all had a great time with all of you. I like that the kids all get along and we can turn them loose.

Congrats to SB! One competition thing we could have done for the championship was a 4 player washer box match, first to 11+ points or something instead of the dice roll (though that was fun too).

The new games were cool! Cubb or Qube or Qubbbbbbb or whatever was cool, regardless of official rules (were those ever determined, btw?) and slam disc was fun too. But life size Elk Fest had to be the best. I can't wait until the video is done uploading on that one.

Oh, and the rocket acting like a SCUD targeting GT. Total. Awesomeness.

Thanks for hosting Harb!

Looked up the rules and confirmed that what darthgamer taught me are correct... (at least to wikipedia)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubb

If either team does not knock down all field kubbs before their turn is over, the kubb closest to the king now represents the opposite team's baseline, and throwers may step up to that line to throw at their opponent's kubbs. This rule applies only to throwing the pinnar at the opposite team's field and baseline kubbs; fallen kubbs are thrown from the original baseline, as are attempts to knock over the king.

One rule that I saw that I haven't enforced before:

Throws must be under-handed, and the sticks must spin end over end. Throwing sticks overhand, sideways or spinning them side-to-side (Whirligiging) is not allowed.

Best ever family Paloozah. Great time. Great location. Great company. Great eats. Great games.

Thanks to Harb's family for the hosting, all the preparations and the use of their football field/yard.

I had to print some shirts last night so the photos are coming, hopefully tonight.

We got juuuust a little sun though. :cherry:

I thought that with all the gaming that was done, coming down to a single roll of the dice was fitting. (And not just because I won!)

I still think calf circumference would have been a better option...

According to this website: http://www.oldtimegames.com/howtoplay2.html

The game Kubb (pronounced Koob) is a 1,000 year old Viking game which has both national and international championship games! It looks like the basic game is just knocking down the 5 kubbs and then the king. A popular variation is the one darth gamer taught DE with tossing the toppled kubbs, stacking them and throwing from the farthest kubb. (however, knocking down the king is always done from the baseline) They also mention an interesting variation that says if a team is eligible to knock down the king and fails, the opposing team can then try to knock down the king for the win...adding a bit more "washer-box-like" strategy.

I'm not too sure about this rule. The rules on this website only mentions that the rotation of the casting pin can only be end-to-end, not that it must be end-to-end.

I guess like any game, house rules will need to be made. :)

Thanks to everyone for coming, and bringing such wonderful eats. It was a great time. We have to work on the trophy scoring method, but so far so good. It was neat to see everyone get into it. Live action Elkfest was way more successful than I thought it would be. I am on the road this week, but I am having Mrs. Harb upload some photos to the Facebook page and I will link them whend she gets them up.

Lets see I have a black leather hat, an HP camera, a bag of colorful washers for washer box, and a kid, that were left here. Oh, wait, that kid is mine. But let me know who's things these are.
