At GenCon this year our group got a few demos and talked in-depth with a couple of the developers for Dark Age. After looking at 3 or 4 other mini systems (i.e. Malifaux, Infinity, etc.) our group ended up investing in a "battle box" of DA for each of us. That being said we have 3 people getting into the Dark Age game, but we were looking for a 4th for potential DA events.

Do any of you guys play Dark Age by chance? ;)

Wow - Dark Age? I'm surprised that game is still around. I think I have photos from a GenCon in Milwaukee when I first played this game. It came out around the same time as VOR, I believe. I have a miniature from their line.... some nurse... Sister of pain or something.

I think the guys from Dark Age used to work for FASA and worked on VOR. I think. I know there was some relationship there. Or Dark Age came after or something like that.

Thanks for rattling my brain, Elric!

Yeah, the guy who is the Project Lead for "Devastation" (their latest book / factions) was at GenCon this year. Apparently he originally worked for Privateer Press on Warmachine up until about a year ago when he was offered the job at Dark Age. I'm not sure on the history of their other designers. I know the guys we talked to mentioned that Dark Age came out right before or right after VOR and Warmachine.

They also have a new one coming out soon called "Wrath of Kings" which looked pretty cool as well. They didn't have that one available at GenCon, so our group decided on Dark Age instead. Comparing this to warmachine, it seems similar in play style but not so dependent on the one "warcaster". The rule book is less than half the size of Warmachine, so that also was a good thing to see.
