but can't we move the card and mini's stuff to a different forum? I keep getting notices that the "Boardgame" forum has been updated and when I get here it is just talk about life-sucking mini's.

Maybe we could make a new one called "Obscure sh*t that costs a ton and will never get much use".

Well, feel free to start your own topic of interest in the boardgame thread. :p

No sense complaining about what people are posting about if you don't offer an alternative. So until then, minis, minis, minis!

My guess is that the player base of Warmachine / Hordes is pretty big (bigger than most boardgames). Hardly obscure. :-s

But to your original concern, can you get an RSS feed? I have a feed that gives me the title of the post. So if I see something come across that I am not reading, then I just ignore it. If you had the RSS come across with a title then you'd know when Warmachine: whatever comes across you can just ignore it.

For the record, my light hearted jabs at the hobby I wish I could have the time and money to entertain are not complaints about people posting, rather about the fact that I do not think most consider war-minis "boardgames".

I can clarify "obscure" as well as this point, with one point killing two birds with one stone......

Try asking if grandma and Aunt Betty want to play a "boardgame" next Thanksgiving. If you can get them to say yes, start setting up Warmachine and see what kind of looks you get.

My reference point was normal people, not gamers. I think most normal people consider euros obscure most of the time so to go into something like minis is just off the charts.

Its not a big deal. It is slow here lately.

Gawd DAMN are we geeks or what?

I never thought I would be discussing if a miniatures game was a board game, or what constitutes an obscure board game.

Are you kidding? I get that look from my Parents if I even mention the word "game". Well, all of my relatives really.

I still think it is a hoot when I see one gamer calling another gamer 'strange' (odd, bizarre, freak, mutant, heretic, abomination to nature, etc.) for liking another group of games. Hello, the pot and the kettle? We gamers are all poured out of the same jar of mixed nuts (irregular peices).

You should go to BGG and make some Geeklists.

Something that's never been done before, like, "The super mega ultimate gateway game list," and so on.

:-"

Or how about "Games that wish they were boardgames"?

or

"Hobbies so geeky even gamers mock them"?

:-"

I will take it under consideration. Mini's and card games did not have their own forum originally. Then there seemed to be a few posts, so they were given their own place to encourage them.

While the argument can be made they don't belong in the Board Games! forum, the main dissention to the idea is that only one game in particular is actually a topic of discussion. Seems silly to have a seperate Warmachine forum.

I've been meaning to make a Marketplace area yet so we will have to see.

PS You forgot to mention the "and is still cool as hell" part.

My only complaint with the whole issue is that I have to go into the minature area in order to 'Mark all Topics Read' flag. I'd rather the Mini/CCG/etc people just discussed things in the main board game forum.

I embrace you. Come, be part of the big group...

DE - Underneath the subforums when you come into Board Games! all you need to do is click "Mark forums read." It will mark the Mini, Card, and profile, forums as read but not the board games.
