You must have a PC. I mean, sheesh, a MAC would be able to magically teleport those pics for you, crop them, color correct and upload them to the site with merely a thought on your part.

Are you kidding? If I had a Mac I could just hold up the mini somewhere near the Mac and it would TAKE THE PICTURE for me!!! It would just magically know what I needed it to do, and it's hi-tech imaging device hidden on the screen would scan the object and have it imported into the computer at 1,000,000,000 dpi.

All I have to do is sit there and drink a Pepsi. :forthosewhothinkyoung:

I finished painting my Khador warcaster this last weekend. I just have to finish my other warjack and then at least I'll have my battlebox done. I'll try to shoot some photos this weekend and post them. I think she came out okay, but now I'm trying to determine if I want to add some static grass to her base.

I have my Widowmakers and my Manhunter assembled (I can't remember if the Widowmakers are based, but I know the Manhunter is) so maybe I'll even try to prime them this weekend, if it's not too windy and rainy.

That's a good question - are all Warmachine units supposed to be based? I haven't done that for any of mine, and that is mostly due to the idea that basing seems like it wouldn't always work. I mean, if you base it with static grass as mentioned above, won't that look way off when your battle takes place on some desert map, or a destroyed city where the rubble/buildings are all dark grey?

there isn't really any rules per se... I know many folks who have based their minis on themes, such as a desert world, or a snow scape...I always painted mine up in a MARS-ish hue that i had color matched to my pool tabel where all my battling took place. looked weird on a grassy field terrain.... but their grass looked crappy on my martian craters...

you have to make a compromise somewhere...

I spose that's true. I will likely leave all mine unbased for now because I don't want to spend any more money on the basing materials (ballast, terrain, etc.). Besides, I got my work cut out for me yet with all the painting.

I almost always base my Warmachine figures to look like they're standing in mud, dirt and rocks. Maybe a little grass. That way, it's a pretty neutral color set and the bases don't stand out much on other types of tabletops. I base my sci-fi minis usually on grey ground (concrete?) and little rocks (kitty litter, usually) so it could be rubble and such.

You see a lot of Khador figures based on snow, which makes them look cool and it makes sense with their background, but I think it stands out too much against most tabletops.

Basing the mini is only to enhance the overall look of it. It has nothing to do with the game board or actual terrain used in play. just make you model look good for itself. Atoms remark on the Khador is dead on. Very striking stuff. Jim's Khador that I played with were sharp with the broken ice basing.

Now if you were to run events and get all fancified with creating 3D terrain, you could tie it all together. But you have a life, or require sleep, so that is probably not an option. :)

I do have a life, but sleep is overrated. "You can sleep when you're dead", as they say. I'm up to having painted 1 warcaster, 2 heavy jacks, 1 light jack, and 3 solos (paladins). I'm hoping to get another heavy jack and 1 more solo done tonight, just in case we play tomorrow so I have my leading 500 point setup ready. ;)

I finally built my lighting box so I can properly shoot photos of minis. My technique still needs a little work, but this is better than it's been.

I still might add some static grass to the bases, but these are otherwise done. I'm hoping to get the Destroyer built this weekend (maybe even primed? seems unlikely) so I can have my battlebox ready soon.

Here are just some close-up shots of the Avatar so you can see the added details I put in thus far...

Glowing shield from Avatar of Menoth

Glowing sword from Avatar of Menoth

- What do you guys think on this idea? Too much? Is there a way of doing it better?

All the completed models thus far...
Image

Here is the same shot, but without the flash so you can see the actual colors. As you can see here, the blue is darker than it appears in the shots with flash. I only mention that because I don't want people to think it was too close to the Cygnar blue.
Image

And here are the other ones I have yet to paint...
Image
13 down, only 62 more to go!

And just for a shout out to BHL...
Image

I have a few more details to add on some of these guys, such as the glowing blue eyes for a few of the Jacks, and the faces for the paladins. The thing that sucked about the paladin faces is once you add in the flesh tones it looks really out of place on them, as the only flesh showing on the whole model is their face. I'll work on it yet I guess... I also still have to figure out some way of improving all the empty blue space on a few of the 'jacks that didn't have molded details there already.

So that all said and done, what do you guys think? Ideas? Suggestions?

Woof, you've been busy. That visor glow you mentioned is nice. Pretty distinct on the big guy that looks like a frickin cathedral.

Sweeeeet. I guess I have to put together my Caine themed army. :)

Promise you don't start yelling "that's so gay!" as Caine picks you apart from afar, then Blinks to a safe location? \:D/

No worries, my Harbinger has some dealios to repel ranged attacks, and plus - there is always that whole screening/concealment rule! :P

Started building my Destroyer this week. I'm a slow warjack builder, as well as a slow warjack painter. I think it's because they're so big and so few in my army, I spend a lot of time on them.

I also found Sunday afternoon to be perfect priming weather, so I set of my card table and spray box outside and went to town. I primed my whole ork team for Blood Bowl, five soldier minis from Pig Iron Productions, and two units for Warmachine: my Widowmakers and a Manhunter. I'm looking forward to getting started with the painting. The Manhunter will be interesting since he's a solo.

Yeah, I was very surprised when I started putting together my 500 and 750 point groups... The solos seem to be pretty effective compared to how ridiculously cheap they are to field.
