4E has been out for about 4 years so WotC starting a 5th edition. This time they are gathering opinions on what the rules should look like by having open playtesting. Looks like it might appear in 2013.

I think I would enjoy seeing the skills expanded (tripled). I like the 4E catagories and I don't want to go back to super detailed things like rope tying and fletching, but options to personalize the characters more would be fun as well as help players with ideas for roleplaying and choosing skills for checks.

I also would like to see the economy overhauled to make all that gold be really awesome. And increased detail in regular shop items; populating places like Sigil with goods can be difficult. Again, I'm NOT interested in having players track how many needles they have, just a fleshed out market place guide in case they want to shop because sometimes you don't realize what you want to buy until you see it.

for me i liked most of 3.5 the skills were good and you could add more through talk with dm i thought the core was solid and simplified a lot but i prefered the concept of kits from 2nd ed over the prestige classes of 3rd

agreed and for creative roleplayer types it get hard for a storyteller to have to make up prices on things that are asked for regurally. Included an actual spell component price list for those of us who do like to keep track of those for rp value not that everyone should but i like to quantify spell components to make a spellcaster more real and it was always fun to have to go on sidequest for unusuall components
