Has anyone upgraded to Windows 10? From what I understand it works fine. But I heard that they are going to start getting more aggressive in encouraging people to switch. I've been ignoring the popup but supposedly it will be required as a critical update in the future which will force it into systems that auto update. If that's the case I was thinking about just going ahead and getting it over with. I've got a couple of minor issues anyway on my laptop so maybe it will fix those.

Been using 10 for a while. It's not bad at all. Better than 8, or even 7 to be honest.

There is some issue with forcing you to have auto updates on, which makes some people worried if they are on data caps, and might not want update downloads to happen without them knowing about it.

I've had it for a bit too. It's a nice bridge between 8 and 7. With some nice touches.
I've loaded up some older games (spec'd for WIN2000/XP) and they work fine too.

Thanks for the info. As much as I like to keep up on this stuff I've always been a bit of a slow adopter, which paid off because I got to skip 8. :)

Anyone else have problems with 10? About a month ago my taskbar stopped working. Then the other day out of the blue the taskbar started working again but now I can't get WIFI! After spending about 3 hours on it (I'd try something and when that didn't work I changed it back). Even my direct connection to the router is shit, but like I said, I didn't change anything that I didn't revert. People have been having problems like this for a year. I'm about out of options and might just take it someplace...

Been on 10 at home since the pre-release, no issues at all.

I even moved my work PC over a few weeks ago.

I would say that I wish I had the same issues to be able to help out... but who wishes they had issues?

My son has been on Windows 10 for a few months, and he stopped working too. I have not been able to get him working since either.

I think your computer is just lazy.

I updated the driver and that helped... until I restarted, ugh

Here are a couple things to try:

Right click Windows icon,
open Device Manager,
click Network Adapters arrow to expand,
then right click your wifi adapter,
select Properties, (Configure...)
now select the Power Management tab.
De-select the box that says "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

You can also run the Windows System File Checker. This probably won't fix driver issues, but may fix any corrupt system files. Might also take a long time to run it.

If you want, I can also just take a look at it sometime. Might just be a good idea to back everything up, wipe the drive and reinstall windows.

I did try that power management but maybe there's another one that I missed somewhere. Will try the file checker.

My home computer updated over the weekend, much to my annoyance. I forgot to tell it "don't."

Anyway, now that it is upgraded things seem to be okay. Except for one issue which is driving me crazy. My computer shuts down after idling for a while. I'm not sure how long it takes for it to shut down but when I had Windows 7 I would just leave it on all the time. I also use it as a music server (with Logitech Squeezebox) so I could just flip on the stereo and search my entire collection.

But now it shuts down after being idle for a while. I checked the power settings and set it to Never shut down. Still shuts down. I read on one forum that upgrading the NVidia driver would fix the issue. Upgraded to current driver - still shuts down.

Pretty annoying.
