This is a great article, even if a couple years old. And I like you all so I thought I'd share.

Very eye opening as far as passwords go. All our cute Th1s1smybank456 passwords aren't even a challenge because hackers KNOW that's how people make passwords. Their software goes through many 1000's of permutations a second looking for exactly those things. They even look for patterns in key strokes - just look at their example "qeadzcwrsfxv1331". Now follow it on your keyboard. And here I thought I was being sneaky because some of my passwords are patterns.
At the end there are some promoted comments that are valuable too.

Bottom line, your passwords need to be long and completely random to be effective in the event of a breach. Using a password manager can help.
