Elric was right. My PC has a nasty virus. It is slowly nailing every function. It won't even let me start up in safe mode. I know, I know, you should have kept your Net Defense updated. A problem not know to the Mac world. Internet is down and no access to the folder with all the goodies in it. I'm in the process with the recovery disk. Any ideas before I loose everything on the thing? ](*,)

What type of gamer are you?: Computer
If you don't want to lose everything, my advice would be to take it to a friend's house (if they are willing to risk it) and having them plug in your hard drive as a secondary (non-boot) HD. They start their computer, and use their virus protection to clean your drive for you.

If you want, I have several computers at my house that I could do this for you.

P.S. - You're right, there are fewer Mac viruses out there, but that's because no hacker cares about Macs and thus deems them not worth the time to write a virus for them.

Works for me.

I'm going to try to nail a back date and recover from there. Not sure what I'm doing, but that is true for a lot of things. I know enough to make myself dangerous. I don't really use my PC for anything important, but there is a lot of "crap" on it. If it fails, then I might just have to bring over some games and make it a "clean your hard drive" game event.

Reinstalling XP. Here we go again. On my Mac again. I just can't wait to get on my Mac again, telling PC stories to my friends. Oh, I just can't wait to get on my Mac again. On my Mac again, like a band of PC IT id10T(s) we travel the info highway. We're the best of friends...

You know how the song goes.
