Hey All,

This may be a reach, but I was just wondering if any of you have a lot of experience with web design. I recently put together a gaming site for a friend of mine (www.theimmortalguardians.net), and I am running into a headache making the site work well in IE6. I use Firefox whenever possible, and I absolutely abhor IE of any version, but for some reason people still use IE6. The site works perfectly in Firefox or Google Chrome, but I have some display issues with the template .css files when they are viewed in IE6 that are driving me up the wall. Anyone? :-k

Sorry I can't help you. This site is sort of a package. I only ever dabbled in html and dreamweaver, but I thought some other folks on here did some of that suff.

Just tell users on the site to download firefox. :badgrin:

I mean, all the IE fanboys always tell firefox users to use IE, so why not?

Either that or Google will become your friend as you search for reasons why the css template is behaving as such.

Yeah, I've tried googling the crap out of the issue, but nobody's solutions that I find seem to work. I have also contacted the two developers that wrote the code I am using for a part of the site in hopes they could help, but they are too busy I think to look into it deeply enough to matter. Good idea though....

And yes, I do tell the site users to just download Firefox already. :P At the bottom of the page I have a module that checks the viewing browser - if it is Firefox it just says "Thanks for using Firefox", but if it is IE then it tells you your browser is outdated and gives the link to download Firefox. :razz: I used to have one that was a popup when you first opened the site, and it basically just yelled at IE users for being behind the times, but that one was a bit too obnoxious so I had to scale it down a bit. ;)

I have the same issue. I basically had to build the site for work in two versions, and had it check the browser and divert to the correct site.

I don't know if that is the CORRECT solution, but it was the only way I could find to do it. They just render differently, and no matter what, they just won't play well together. It got me to figure out how to build a site that could be updated and changed easily though, since everything needs to get done twice now...

The biggest problem I run into is how IE displays png files. Gif transparency is ok, but it really does not have good quality as opposed to png 24-bit. Firefox and all newer browsers handle .png transparency just fine, it's the stupid IE that can't handle it. I've tried solution after solution that I found online, and none of them work (or if they do make it more transparent they cause other problems that are worse).

I also run into an issue with template width formatting. My forums are integrated into the site (same login), so I use the same window when the forums are opened. IE6 however, doesn't like that, so it moves the navigation bar of the forums into the middle of nowhere in the window.

IE = teh suck.
